A New Season: Why Put On Some Lipstick Is Changing
Share
How do you explain to your customers a drastic change from the first merchandise you put online to the new designs you're creating today?
For me, the answer is simple:
I'm in a different season of my life.
When I first created many of the black, white, and red T-shirts, mugs, and accessories at Put On Some Lipstick, they reflected exactly where I was at that moment.
I was going through a divorce while also facing the harsh reality of menopause. I was fighting battles mentally, emotionally, and physically—and some days, it truly felt like I was fighting just to survive.
My emotions were in overdrive, and my body was feeling the toll of everything I was carrying.
I felt alone.
I felt like no one truly understood the mental struggles I was experiencing—the Richter-scale highs and lows, the pain, the anger, the sadness, and the confusion of suddenly finding myself on a roller coaster of a life I didn't recognize.
And perhaps one of the hardest parts was reaching out for help and sometimes not even receiving a call back from the professionals I turned to when I felt like I was caught in a revolving door of decline.
Then came two words that changed everything:
But God...
I'm not in that same place anymore.
I'm entering a new season—a season of healing, peace, laughter, and preserving the woman I've fought so hard to become.
I can breathe again.
My divorce is completed...well, somewhat. There are still a few loose ends because apparently life likes to keep things interesting.
I've also found community.
From the W.D.N.C. — We Do Not Care Club to the countless women on TikTok who openly shared their stories about aging, menopause, divorce, relationships, and simply trying to figure out this stage of life, I began to realize something:
I was never as alone as I thought I was.
There is an entire community of women navigating their own version of this journey.
Women laughing.
Women healing.
Women starting over.
Women figuring it out.
Women deciding that at this stage of life, some things simply aren't worth carrying anymore.
And that change in me is now showing up in my designs.
The new Put On Some Lipstick merchandise is brighter. It's funnier. It's more joyful. It's playful, colorful, and unapologetic. Most importantly, it celebrates the power of women supporting women.
Because that's the season I'm in now.
So, am I getting rid of my older designs?
Absolutely not.
Those designs are part of my story.
They represent a woman who was hurting, fighting, questioning, surviving, and trying to find her way through one of the hardest seasons of her life.
And somewhere, another woman may be in that exact season right now.
Those designs are still for her.
The new designs are for the woman I'm becoming—and for the women who are ready to laugh again, live again, love themselves again, and enjoy the next chapter.
That's what this "rebranding" really is.
It's not about becoming a different brand. It's about allowing the brand to grow with me.
Put On Some Lipstick started as a reminder to myself to keep going.
Today, it's becoming a reminder to all of us:
Seasons change.
The place you're in today doesn't have to be the place you stay forever.
Give yourself grace.
Find your people.
Laugh when you can.
Feed your soul.
And when life gets heavy...
Eat, Pray, and Pray Some More.
